Prairie Girl

Yep, that’s what The Husband called me. :)  I’ve always loved long, flowing dresses (sans bonnet), but I never wanted to pay a huge amount of money, then have to shell out more to have it tailored.  So when I spotted this Fabulous Find at Ross, the size and the price made me want to run through an open field, jumping for joy!

Originally closer to the color of my shoes, I decided to dye it black.  Two dips later, this dress turned a deep chocolate brown while the embroidered accents remained – LOVE it!  My DSW clearance booties, along with a few spiritual theme bracelets, were the exact accessories needed to pull everything together.

Although I usually don’t wear brown until the fall season, God is full of surprises. 🙂

Metal Mania!

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

I admit it – I’m a total 80’s Girl! :)  I used to wear those tight jean shorts covered with distressed holes (strategically placed, of course), neon tie-dyed T’s, and inconceivably coiffed hair, courtesy of my highly toxic can of Aqua Net.  But one of my favorite embellishments was metal!

When I saw this leopard printed mini skirt for $9.00, as well as the black International Concepts shirt, I immediately loved the blend of old school metal with the current style.  I had originally seen the INC shirt at Macy’s for around $70.00, so finding both of these deals at 1/2 of 1/2 just made complete $en$e. 🙂

I wore the skirt to a Christian Women’s meeting and the shirt to a North Texas Chamber event.  If you had a few rad metal pieces in your wardrobe, OMG, where would you wear them?

Crafting Paws…

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

Spent a few minutes out of my hectic weekend to glam up this picture frame for my sweet babies, MOCHI (lab mix) and MISO (dachshund).

$3.30 frame on clearance at Nordstrom Rack + $3.00 scrapbooking rhinestones = a priceless memory of my Girls. 🙂

Hmm…how much do you think this frame would sell for in a department or boutique store?

Miss Jakia’s Afternoon Tea

Author: msmona  //  Category: Tips

As a huge fan of theme parties, I was thrilled to receive an invitation from my friend, Tina, to attend her daughter’s first hosted tea.  The Royal Wedding influenced Miss Jakia’s afternoon with a spread of tempting bites, variety of teas, delicate pastel decor, and a wonderful presentation of her upcoming missionary staff work with Global Aid Network.  Of course, spending quality time with these two gorgeous women was the real treat! 🙂

I knew I was waiting to wear this fun combo for a reason!  I picked up this black ruffle-rimmed taupe skirt at Nordstrom Rack for $11.99 (yea, 40% off their original discounted price), and happened upon a matching flowered fascinator at Charming Charlie – oh, check out Jakia’s feathered headpiece that her friend made for her.  Just right for a special afternoon tea time with the Girls!

Dahlings, what was the last purchase you waited to wear for a specific occasion? 🙂
